Study Abroad in France

When I was a schoolboy in Arizona, the last thing I could imagine doing was to study abroad in France. Studying French was bad enough, but study French in France? Ridiculous! And why? Because French was for sissies. And how did I know that? Because girls loved French. A French accent fascinated them. They all wanted to study in France. They thought it was all very romantic. Now that I'm older, I recognize that I should have learned French. Why, you ask? Because women love French. A French accent fascinates them. They all want to eat French food in a restaurant (French word) that looks like something in Paris while someone whispers French poetry in their ear. They think it's all very romantic. In a shameless nod to sex appeal, while studying French might make you more attractive, studying French in a school in France is sure to.

If you're deciding where to study, France is a good idea, and not just to improve your love-life. Books, movies, and stage shows continue to crank out interesting and popular re-makes of classic French stories like Les Miserables and The Three Musketeers. And why? Because they are timeless, tender, tragic, or whatever else you want. The funniest movie I have ever seen was in French, even though I couldn't understand what they were saying and had to read the subtitles. (It's called "The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob", and you can find it at Amazon.com. Rated G.) Yep, I should have learned French when I had the chance. Study in France.

Fortunately, French study abroad is popular, so there are many proven, reliable programs. Your school may be able to recommend one. Many colleges have relationships with universities in France or have their own study abroad centers there. And you can pick your favorite climate and scenery. There are Study Abroad France programs for study in the Alps, on the sunny coast of the Mediterranean, in the peaceful and pastoral countryside, or in bustling Paris. Take your time and find just the right combination of classes and setting. The French would want you to.
